Vetrimaran at his best

Kollywood is full of stories wherein a debutant and successful director manages to slip off and falter terribly in his very second film. Several instances to prove this can be narrated. In the case of director Vetrimaran, though, he has done what many others before him have failed to do: to keep the reputation intake.

Vetrimaran gave a good account of himself with his highly successful debut venture ‘Polladhavan’ which starred Dhanush and released three years back. The film, which dealt with the underbelly of the city’s bike-lifting gang, had great script and nice packaging with peppy songs which eventually made it a super-hit one.

Aadukalam’, Vetrimaran’s second project again with Dhanush in the lead, released on Pongal eve this year. The film’s backdrop was very different from that of ‘Polladhavan’ and had Dhanush playing a villager with conviction in the backdrop of Madurai. Deft handling by Vetrimaran, Dhanush’s acting and GVP’s music have all combined to make the film a super-hit one.

Thus, Vetrimaran has delivered his second successful venture in ‘Aadukalam’. Despite the success, Vetri’s feet are firmly planted to the ground, which is a sign of many good things to look forward to in future!
